Well I have to say that this system wasn't all it was cut up to be as far as the install. The instructions stink and could be more complete showing more of the things that will be in the way when trying to remove the old system and install the new one.  

Then I didn't get any spring tool and any floppy discs w/maps. So now I have to take more of my time to request any maps that I may need.

If any of your installs went super smooth I must be doing something wrong. First of all I did the pre-assemble as told on Step 1 of the instructions. No problem there. I started on Step 1 but after fighting to get the primaries all the way onto the spigots and not all of them would go completely on. I still had about a 1/16" to 1/8" of a gap where it should nearly meet the spigot plate on pipe #1 & 2. Now I got that as close as I could and went onto the next part. The collector was a real pain. I had to use a rubber mallet to get both sides to completely slide on. The left side bottom of the primaries are touching some oil pan bolts. I tried everything to get that away but then it would pull the primaries out again. So I left that and moved on to the midpipe and that went on ok. The muffler went on ok as well but it sure appears the swing arm may hit the inside of it once the bike is off of the stand. Hmmmm....

I trial fitted the under wing and there is no clearance problems there. I guess I could move the mid pipe a little more away so the muffler won't hit.

Now the part I'm really pissed about. I can't get the oil cooler line away from the #4 pipe. It competely rubs and needs to be bent or straightned by at least a 1/4" to clear comfortably. Damned if I can't bend that crap. I tried spacing the cooler with some washers to gain but because it hits right where it turns towards the pipe that won't ever help. So I took the line off and tried to bend it right where is comes out of the cooler. Nope!! Now I need to have a friend straighten it or modify it with a torch. I've been working on this system for over 4 hours. What gives? I took a break and had a fellow biker take a look. He can't seem to see where we could adust anything easily. So I'm pretty sure I 've done what I could do. I'm very dissapointed!!!!!! Once I get this oil line situated and fine tune the fit some more, it better perform or I'm sending this piece of crap back!!!!

Unfortunately your dealer is supposed to supply the correct map disk to you...he is new and may not be aware of this?

We can not supply a disk in advance to our dealer customers as we have no way of knowing your application. (Bike/year/mods etc.)

On #4 you must occasionally loosen the oil line clamp screws to adjust the clearance...the stock placement is +/- 1/4 inch on some bikes!

The spring tool situation is unfortunate...Apparently Hindle ran out in the middle of packing our last order!

As a result, the spring tools were only included in SOME of our last order?!

(We had no idea.....they promised to tell us if it ever happens again.)

We are embarrassed and very sorry… We will send you a replacement. For now, an easy fix is to use a wire coat hanger. We use these anyway to be sure we have the correct clearance to easily install the spring while pulling beyond the oil cooler.

DO NOT CUT, TORCH, FORCE, BEND OR PERFORM ANY EXTREEM OPERATION IN AN ATTEMT TO MAKE THE PIPE FIT!!!

As our instructions state: the system IS tight, but it WILL fit!

***BUT** these are HAND CRAFTED SYSTEMS…..UNFORTUNATELY PEOPLE MAKE MISTAKES!!

We will send you replacement parts  if you feel that you have a problem at ABSOLUTLY no cost to you! Just return ship the bad component as YOUR schedule will allow and we will credit your account for the shipping or send you a check...you decide.

Hindle has less than a 1% history of improperly manufactured parts with our company…that is unheard of in the manufacturing business…but, they have made several mistakes in the past…..perhaps this is your situation?

Sorry to hear you had trouble with your install. My Brock Hindle couldn't have went on any smoother. The only force I had to use was the slight force necessary to bend the oil cooler line away from the #1 head pipe. This is a known tight area though and was excepted. A slow, methodical fitting and adjustment of all the parts was all that was required to get everything lined up correctly. My kit was missing the spring tool mentioned in the instructions as well but a pair of needle nose pliers worked great.

As for more in depth instructions, I really don't see what they could add. A step by step, bolt by bolt install sheet would be a book. I think a copy of the shop manual would be a good purchase if you plan to do your own wrenching. It has saved me a ton of time and headaches. I don't think it's realistic to expect any parts vendor to provide that level of instruction. I thought the Brock instructions covered all the critical areas concerning the fit and fitting procedures quite well. Just my $.02...

My only real issue with the instructions was that they do say that a disk is included with the kit when it is not. I much prefer contacting you and getting the right map for my application but I do think that the instructions should be changed so that they do not say that a disk is included. That would prevent this type of complaint in the future. When the instructions say that something is in the box (disk/map, spring tool) and it's not there, the customer begins to wonder what else might be missing. I know I wondered.

Since I had my system polished by my dealer I just figured that the disk and spring tool might have gotten lost when he unpacked the system for polishing. A quick e-mail to the dealer let me know that his personal system came without the spring tool and that I should contact you for the correct map. Not a problem for me at all, but as you see here, it can put a damper on the buying experience of some people.

Just to let you guys know, Brock himself called me this morning because he was concerned about my situation. This was a big surprise to me and I'm very impressed for the quick attention. Anyhow, we talked about the problem and I'm going to look over the system again in the morning. The system is on and I started the bike just to check leaks, it sounds fine and sounds great as well. 

The main problem is the oil cooler line stopping me from being able to continue assembly of the various plastics and radiator, oil cooler, etc. I took the line off and had it at work to see if could a little bend to help clear the pipe. Man this piece is nearly impossible to bend without the fear of cracking it open. Well I put a real small amount of heat to it and tried to bend it again. I may have bent it about 1/32" of an inch. Not really measurable. I will try the loose bolt adjustment and see if that helps as well.

Today....Sunday I'm going to continue trying to get the line to clear. If I get that remedied, I will then check for plastic clearance and go from there.

Brock, I appreciate your call this morning and the concern you had, but the problem lies in the fact that I need this bike ready for a trip to Phoenix this coming Friday. I'm trying to get this finished so I can get the cams installed and degreed in a timely fashion. I don't like crunch times. I have no real time this week to get this done. That was what this weekend was for. I do appreciate the fact that you will send me a replacement primary to me by Tuesday. That will mean I have only a few hours a few nights to finish that and start the cam install and degreeing time.

When I was younger these obstacles didn't phase me and I understand occasionally a few bad parts get released. But as I'm older now, my patience has run thin and I expect a lot I guess. It just seems my dumb luck when this happens.

As far as instructions are concerned, regardless of what aptitude you have in mechanical ability and common sense, I feel a little more *Tips* on the easiest way to install the system. Like noting what parts will/may need to be removed for ease of installation. For me I loosened the oil cooler completely away from the block. I removed the horn from the front of the radiator to gain another 3/4" to 1" of clearance from the radiator. This helped tremendously. I don't like to act like a contorshinist while trying to screw in a simple bolt.

Brock thanks for the help so far. I will let you know if I will indeed need the replacement primary pipe. And thanks for the cam timing tip.

Don't stress the small stuff, after you install the whole kit, it will be worth the hassle.  Once you learn how to ride that horse, you'll be a believer.  I don't think there's a busa pkg, that can match BDE products, without cracking the motor open.  One thing it will take is seat time, I'm finding that out, but your numbers will fall weekly, if your a track junkie like me.

I have know doubt that the bike will pick up performance. Handling won't be a problem since being owning a few high HP bikes. But then again I live up at 5300' and we lose about 15-18% of HP. So we really do not know what REAL HP is all about. I will find out again as soon as I get to Phoenix this coming Friday. Should be a blast!!

I just got the Yosh cams in and degreed them as per your suggestion. As soon as I download the map you supplied me, I will let you know how it runs as far as the seat-o-pants dyno.

I will be using a dyno in Phoenix this weekend that supposedly is the best Power tuning dyno available. It's not a Dynojet. Anybody know what i'm talking about?

I'll let you know what your map gives on the dyno and see if these guys can tweak more assuming that I do not lose actual real road time performance. I'll have to take it to the drags to really find out and do some real world roll-on tests with a few friends.

Hey Brock. The exhaust seems to fit fine. I loosened the oil cooler lines at the mounts and rotated it to the max. I did get  a slight bend to the line as well and it looks like jsut enough clearance. I trial fitted the right side fairing to see if there will be any problems. Looks really close but if there is a problem, I can do some slight shimming and trimming if necessary. No prob really. I don't think I will need anything at this time. Thanks for the offer.

Glad to hear it !!....in all honesty, the initial Pipe installs did cause US some small problems at first. 

One of the things we learned is NOT to completely tighten the spigot clamp bolts in the head before inserting the head pipes over them. There is quite a bit of clearance between the spigot and the machined pocket in the head where the gasket rests (we use the same clearance as stock). If the clamps are tightened without being centered.they must be forced in to place. The first sign of misalignment is when the head pipes won't slip all the way down (1/16 gap is typical) the clamp plate. 

This forcing can cause the entire system to bind...which could lead to the clearance problems you encountered. 

We try not to confuse with our instructions...we have found that too much information does baffle some customers. This is why we have left this potential problem out of the instructions to this point..... 

I am now convinced that we need to convey this message across in our instructions.
