We have enjoyed fantastic luck with the 190 Shinko Rear Tire for Hot Street and Drag strip use for several years.

(They also work surprisingly well in the rain….. I remember lofting the wheel from a traffic light in a drowning rain at Bike Week a couple years ago!) 

WARNING: The Shinko does require a slight “Break-in” period! 

They are coated with a VERY thick layer of preservatives from the factory, which makes them SLIPPERY initially. 

We usually lower the pressure to around 12-15 PSI and take a CAREFUL first ride. 

A SLIGHT burn out here and there (On the main contact FACE of the tire…the sides should be treated with extreme caution…NO HARD CORNERING for at least the first 100 miles!!) helps speed the process. 

DO NOT overheat the tire with excessive burn outs!

Once the tire begins to hook up during short “hops,” we raise the pressure to 22-25 lbs for the street and track on stock wheelbase bikes. 10-12 PSI usually works well for longer bikes. 

The Shinko lasts a long time on the street and hooks great at the track once they are broken in.

I have run 8.20’s at 175 MPH with one on my Bandit in shootout trim.

On another note:

We occasionally use other brands for front tires due to the “rear-to-front tire wear-out ratio” for bikes which are drag raced. Most top-of-the-line ZR-rated RADIAL front tires work well for Street/Strip use in conjunction with the Shinko Rear. WE don’t have problems…but we also don’t drag many knees!!

Once again….be VERY CAREFUL at first! We typically lower the front tire pressure to around 20 PSI for our first ride. We raise it to 42 PSI (or more for STRAIGHT LINE use only!) after about 20 miles. 

I’m sure MOST tire manufacturers would disagree with our process!!!!... USE YOUR OWN HEAD and JUDGMENT.

ALL new tires are slippery at first…..we are just brave (or stupid?!…from a liability standpoint!) enough to warn you in advance.

I know my first tire I took it real easy, the battle axe carried me to 6000 miles. The next tire was a med. soft Shinko about 1700 mile. The third tire is the harder tire, what can I expect from this tire,

any advice?

I have a 2008 hayabusa thats all brocked out and have used the Shinko 003 stealth front and rear for about the past four thousand miles and they have been great. i dont drag my knees around either but have the bike slamed as low as i can and street ride mostly, i'm 6'3" and close to 300lbs and the front will lift under hard acceleration in 2nd. they stick well even in the rain and the wear in my use is excellent. i have heard many shops speak ill of the shinko because they say its not a "busa" rated tire and some will not install it. for the price they are one of the best tires i've ever used, espicially if you drag race alot. pilot power 2ct's are as good but much more expensive.

I have ran the shinko 005 front and rear, ever since i discovered them (over 2years). I have put them in every climb and place with not even the slightest problem.  I have heard the talk about "the cheap tire" and "how its trash" but all i can say is lets take it to the road and see who comes out first.  I get alot of flak from 600 and 750 riders about how a busa cannot run corners, after a quick trip through the mountains here in GA, they retract their previous statement.  Run the Shinko, you will not regret it.

just put shinko 009 Ravens on my 03 Busa....ran them at 18 pounds for 15 miles. then up to 40 pounds F/R for in commuting and 2up riding
