WELL I HAVE SOME BAD NEWS AND GOOD NEWS. THE BAD NEWS IS I SLUNG A ROD ON MY 2008 ZX14. THE GOOD NEWS IS I WAS LUCKY ENOUGH TO FIND AN 09 ZX14 MOTOR FOR A DECENT PRICE ($3000 INCLUDING THE INSTALL). I PICKED THE BIKE UP TODAY AND BC OF THIS TERRIBLE TENNESSEE WEATHER I WASNT ABLE TO RIDE THE BIKE BEFORE LOADING IT UP. MY PROBLEM IS,IM EXPERIENCING SOME CLUNKING NOISE GOING ON WHEN SHIFTING GEARS (1ST,2ND,3RD,4TH,5TH,6TH). WITH MY OLD MOTOR I NEVER HAD THIS ISSUE. SO I SPOKE WITH THE MECHANIC WHO INSTALLED THE MOTOR AND HE TOLD ME IT MAY HAVE SOMETHING TO DO WITH THE CLUTCHES DISENGAGAING AND ENGAGING. HE SAID HE REUSED MY CLUTCH BASKET WHEN HE INSTALLED THE MOTOR. COULD THE PROBLEM BE THAT THE 09 CLUTCH BASKET WOULD NEED TO BE USED INSTEAD? COULD THE PROBLEM BE IN THE TRANSMISSION? IM JUST AFRAID THIS ISSUE LEFT ALONG COULD LATER COST MORE MONEY

byefelicia14,
Very sorry to hear about your recent issues. A quick check of the online part finder indicates that all clutch items from the 2008 and 2009 ZX-14's have identical part numbers - this would indicate 100% interchangeability between years. Brock

Brock,
Thanks for the knowledge, I can now cancel that one out. Hey would I need to request a different PC map since I have a 2008 zx14 with an 09 motor? I'm aware the displacement is the same. Also when installing the map, is there any need to make changes in the tables or are the maps made set and ready to install amd go? |
