We are also removing the screen on the OEM air filter. This bike is sensitive to allowing air into the engine to extract power. Our exhaust design is as 'oversized' as we could get and not have it be too large for the stock engine - it should really excel in aftermarket applications. BPP_HGROM14_AH_StreetMap2.pvm has increased ignition timing. DO NOT RUN 87 OCTANE PUMP GAS. We used 89 Octane Shell with good results (no ping) We do not like advanced ignition timing... but it 'cleaned up' the power curve on the Grom. Our GUESS is that it is retarded from the factory - usually to cut down on NOISE. Until we can crack into the ECU, we won't know for sure, and that hasn't happened, yet. As usual, if you run a gas that is too high on Octane, you will SLOW DOWN. And this bike can't afford that. I will be staying between 89-91 on my personal Grom. More information on Octane > The Gas Factor, by Don Smith:http://www.brocksperformance.com/brocknm/templates/bpp1.aspx?articleid=255&zoneid=8 Speaking of cracking the ECU... the reason we can't map the lower 'closed loop' sections of the map (yet) is because if the stock O2 sensor is unplugged (or disabled), the check FI light will shine... but not until about 35 miles of riding?! So, until we can crack the ECU and make that BS stop, we will have to live with it. All new bikes take a little time :( One item of note: On a bike with such little power, it would make sense that switching to a light-weight/slippery/fully synthetic motor oil such as our Alisyn Less than Zero would make sense - right? Well, we simply have not noticed a measurable difference on the dyno or in top speed tests... which makes us a bit nervous, so we are sticking with the thicker 10w-30, as recommended my the MFG.
