Subject: GSX-R1000 StreetSmart Secure Site **UPDATE**

GSX-R1000 StreetSmart Owners,

The same Hayabusa-based guidelines apply to the GSX-R1000's, 750's and GSX-R600's... use your own judgment!

NOTE: We DO NOT recommend removing the secondary throttle plates on any GSX-R1000's as we would on a ZX-14. Drivability will suffer, and the bike is much harder to keep down during hard launches. We recommend the addition of a TRE which does not adversely affect mapping AND helps keep the front end on the ground. We do not have and will not provide 'flies out' mapping for the 1000's - if you remove the flies, you are on your own and need to get your bike custom mapped.

The 99-07 Hayabusa information is the most thorough and some of the general info can be applied to the GSX-R1000 ....oil type, chain modification, fuel system cleansing, etc.: http://www.brocksperformance.com/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=13

Be sure to pay attention to the Clutch Debris section. 1000's and 600's are known for bearing failure! I believe that many of these problem bikes could have been saved if the clutch debris was taken more seriously.

****DO NOT RUN LOW OIL LEVELS IN THE GSX-R1000 or 600.***

Also: The GSX-R1000's have a VERY tall first gear ratio in the transmission. (It is almost like launching in 2nd gear on other brands!) This is VERY hard on clutches We drop 1 tooth on the front gear and 1 on the back for normal-sized riders with a stock wheelbase.

We also use 100% FULLY SYNTHETIC MOTOR OIL ONLY!!!

Organic oils cant take the heat generated by launching these bikes.

As a general rule: If you need to leave the line at more than 3000-4000 Rpms your bike is geared WRONG for your application, or you need to change your riding style. (You had also better have an Uncle at a Suzuki dealership or you will go broke purchasing clutches!!!)

Additionally, if you have a big cc engine or Nitrous.you need to investigate switching to a lock-up unit with our S10-cck Clutch Cushion. The 1000s basically have a 600/750-based road race (single launch per race) clutch pack. They will not take the additional power OR a very large rider for long.

Finally, we STRONGLY recommend the use of our oil pan baffle on all year GSX-R1000s due to the amount of time these bikes spend doing wheelies. The baffle prevents starvation to the oil pick-up and has cured bearing related problem cases. The addition of this inexpensive product can prevent YOU from being one of these problem cases!

Good Luck and search our new FAQ section also if you have questions.
