I have been thinking about having some head work done and replacing the exhaust cam to gain a few more horsepower. Initially I was skeptical because my street bike is also my race bike and I was afraid of higher temp's and advanced engine wear (motor is stock but does have a Gen3 exhaust with the air box mod). Others keep telling me it should not harm anything or affect engine wear. My main question is: Is there a specific degree, specification, etc. I should request for maximum gains to your knowledge? or do you have any other info. regarding head work I should be thinking about?
